China plans to have an online-based hospital up and running by 2021

Chinese health administrators have announced that they’re launching an online-based hospital for a few months to give operators the time to include and manage a variety of blockchain-powered technologies.

Deputy director of the Information Department of the First Hospital of the University of Medicine Yu Dandan told the health community that

"Our hospital started to build an Internet hospital last year and will be basically completed by the end of this year. The trial operation will begin at the end of January this year."

Naturally, the advantages of such technology promote clarity, transparency, full trace retention, traceability, collective maintenance, and it promotes active participation with its patients and clients.

China introducing first online-based block-chain-fueled hospital

The system will work by having patients access the WeChat applet from which the proverbial and literal ‘chain’ starts, and so naturally having it being your average chatting-software, it is user-friendly and has the blockchain technology implemented behind the scenes. Once they access the applet, all consultation and treatment data will be recorded on the blockchain network.

The project itself has faced several issues in its development, one issue being the hospital being under investigation about data security issues and how they’ll be handled. Nonetheless the review and licensing processes are now almost complete, which means that China might see the first blockchain hospital open up some time next year.
