LatAm and India's growing interest in crypto is reflected in the BRD wallet as it reaches 6 million users

On October 6th Zurich-based mobile cryptocurrency wallet BRD announced that they now had more than six million users worldwide, due to the ongoing growing number of users in India and Latin America, driving the company to predict that they'll have 10 million users by 2021.

After its initial slow rise from 2015 to 2019, taking it around 4 years to reach one million users, it now adds about a million every two months, and naturally, co-founder and chief executive officer Adam Traidman credits Covid-19 for this increased interest in crypto.

In an interview with TechCrunch, he said how “It’s causing a lot of thinking about money and finances. People have had a lot more time over the last six months to look at their investments and as a result of that, we found that for cryptocurrency in general, but especially for BRD’s business, we’ve been growing dramatically.”

BRD is a non-custodial wallet where cryptocurrencies are archived on users' devices, making it easier for user to access it in countries that need to undergo long registration methods to use custodial wallets, and also allows people to use payment methods like Apple Pay or their bank cards to buy the crypto.

BRD also offers Blockset, which is an enterprise blockchain tools  which is currently used to store  about $6 billion in cryptocurrencies.
