OXBC was founded by a global community of 150 students of the Blockchain Strategy Programme at Said Business School, the University of Oxford. It is open to members from beyond the University. OXBC exists to increase the community, expertise and opportunities of its members within the DLT world, and to contribute to the healthy growth the broader ecosystem. The organisation holds exclusive events, provides a growing network of collaborators, advises start-ups, and acts as an incubator for businesses and projects.

Rupert Edwards, Chairman of the Oxford Blockchain Foundation said: "The Oxford Blockchain Foundation (OXBC) is thrilled to host this special one-day conference, plunging into the key issues related to governments and blockchain. We are delighted to be co-hosting with the Government Blockchain Association and are honoured to be welcoming leaders in the field such as the Stephen McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer at Malta Digital Innovation and Steve Tendon, Blockchain Advisor to the Government of Malta. If you are looking at how integrate blockchain technology and government strategy, you will find this a stimulating event."
