“I think there are a set of things blockchain can do to help the world, especially within the social impact sphere. There are many areas that hold a lot of interest, like supply chain, cloud computing and digital identity. We are used to situations where we are subscribed to platforms and we give all our data and they own the data – we are moving to a situation where we own the data and we can do whatever we want with that.

“It’s also very relevant for peer-to-peer trading on renewable energies – it might decentralise the energy sector, so that rather than going to a centralised provider we can trade directly with each other with decentralised grid systems.

“It’s interesting to see that corporations understand this. More than 50% of them place blockchain amongst the top 5 strategic challenges they face – they understand they need to embrace this new technology. There was a big jump from last year, companies are becoming more aware.”
