According to reports, the more and more relevant betting operator Betsson has been talking with Jockey Club do Rio Grande do Sul (JCRGS), a partner of the company, to broadcast the races at Hipódromo do Cristal in Porto Alegre, Brazil

Back in 2019, the majority of Suaposta, a site operated by the club, was acquired by Betsson, and as reported by Games Magazine Brasil (GMB) this association will be boosted and strengthened globally if the company starts broadcasting the races of the Hipódromo, enabling the customers and the racecourse to start improving the situation in which they´ve been involved since march from the covid consequences.

A drop of approximately 80% in the revenue of the hipódromo was one of the consequences from the spread of Covid-19, along with a partial reduction of the salary of its employees, in just the three first months after the virus spread. After returning with an online system and a limited schedule, the company has experienced a decline in its user participation, as most racecourse bettors are accustomed to the traditional way of betting. The partnership between the club and Betsson would help the current situation, increasing the revenues that have been affected during the four months of consequences from COVID-19. The partnership could start with the GP Protetora do Turfe races that will take place on September 11th.

Agreements and meetings are currently taking place between the JCRGS and the operators of the races, mainly focusing on the method of collecting the bets, as well as some other aspects such as image distribution, dress code, and the requirements for the professionals, as they will need to comply with the American and European racetrack standards.

President of the Jockey Club of Rio Grande do Sul José Vecchio Filho mentionned to GMB that they are currently reviewing the technical aspects of the partnership and that they hope the problems will be fixed this week.
