The Ministry of Public Security announced the launch of its “comprehensive reporting platform to combat cross-border gambling”.

On the website, users will be able to check on the progress of any previously filed complaint. An email account and a fax number are also available to lodge reports of illegal gambling.

The Jilin province in north China has even announced a trial on the use of cash rewards for people who blow the whistle on illegal cross-border gambling.

Citizens who report signs of “international gambling crime clues” will be eligble for reward payments of up to 7000 USD. The reported offences can be both land- based and online illegal operations. Those who provide tips that lead to enforcement actions and to arrests and convictions will be eligible for the payouts.

People’s Bank of China (PBOC) also recently announced to enforce stricter controls on payments services used to send money to foreign gambling platforms.
