Horseracing in Buenos Aires to restart their activity on August 28th

After five months of no activity from the risk of expansion of the Covid 19 virus, on August Friday 28th The Hipódromo de Palermo in Buenos Aires will restart its races

The races will have some adjustments made in order to comply with the sanitary measurements, of which no public in the installations and only daytime races are included. The agency Télam has been informed by the racecourse´s manager Federico Spangember, that the races will take place behind closed doors, and the horses being taken care off in the Hipodromo´s stalls won´t be able to participate.

Aside from the temporary reduction of the operating hours of the racecourses, the horses that will take part in the race will only be allowed to stay in the facility during the race time, and after finishing, they must exit the installations, to prevent the possibility of more people entering the racetracks.

The reopening was done as part of Argentinas measures to combat the long closing of businesses, that since march have been unable to operate, pay their workers their full salary in some cases during those months, and generate any income. The Palermo racecourse, as some other gaming buisnesses such as casinos and lottery buisnesses, closed in mid-March, and had to remain closed until recently

Earlier this August, Palermo executives asked LOTBA, the local regulator, to issue a resolution on the protocol presented in the first week of July and for the authorization to create an application that enabled their customers to bet using their smartphones devices, to make it easier for them to take part in the betting. From this, last week an online gambling platform was unveiled, although it still needs to be authorized by LOTBA.
