Next year’s Global Gaming Awards London 2020 has been announced, with the biggest and most innovative names in the world of iGaming set to embark on the English capital for the biggest awards ceremony in the European iGaming sector. The event, which is due to be sponsored by lead partner BetConstruct recognises those businesses that are prepared to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of online gaming.
Unlike some industry awards ceremonies, the Global Gaming Awards London 2020 welcomes self-nominations from companies that believe they should be shortlisted alongside some of the world’s best iGaming firms. Businesses are invited to complete the brief self-nomination form and submit the application before the deadline of Friday 8th November.
All self-nominations are independently adjudicated by KPMG Isle of Man, in a bid to maintain the legitimacy of the event and ensure that every category features deserving shortlists and winners. Supporting statements can be made alongside self-nominations, with up to 1,000 characters made available and applicants can also cite specific products, services, innovations or individuals that are award-worthy.
The excitement and anticipation for February’s event in London has been ramped up since the successful sixth annual Global Gaming Awards in Las Vegas. The ceremony, hosted at the Sands Expo Convention Center as part of the G2E Show, welcomed over 500 professionals from the iGaming sector.
It was a particularly successful show for Aristocrat, which became the only company to bag multiple awards. The supplier was handed the Slot of the Year gong, thanks to the release of Buffalo Diamond, which built on the developer’s success of Game of Thrones 12 months ago. Julian Perry, COO, Gambling Insider, said that it was “fantastic” to see the growth of the Global Gaming Awards brand “in the past six years”, which has benefitted from a “record number of experienced industry judges” in 2019.
Once again, the Venetian Macao reigned supreme as the Property of the Year, after Borgata’s success at the 2018 Las Vegas awards. The Venetian Macao features the world’s largest casino floor. Looking online, Scientific Games bagged Digital Product of the Year with its new OpenSports functionality. The platform is a redesigned sports betting experience that has proven particularly popular among bettors.
Last year’s Global Gaming Awards London saw 15 different iGaming organizations prevail with 16 different awards categories up for grabs, including Ladbrokes, Evolution Gaming and Novomatic, with the latter now the leading manufacturer of land-based machines for gaming throughout Europe, North America and the Far East.

The Global Gaming Awards London 2020 is due to be hosted at the Hippodrome Casino in London’s West End. The event is scheduled for Monday 3rd February, coinciding with the week of ICE London when iGaming enthusiasts are likely to be in the English capital anyway. The afternoon tea ceremony will be the biggest gathering of iGaming CEOs in one room for much of 2020.
The final shortlist will contain a handful of self-nominations as well as industry recommendations for each category, with the independent “Nomination Panel” and Gambling Insider’s own editorial team having the final word on each category winner.
