[WATCH] US versus EU: COVID-19 cases through 27 October

With the high rise of COVID-19 cases, many industries like the events and casino industry were forced to adapt overnight. Travel restrictions set in place, also meant that most people couldn’t travel to go to their favorite event or visit their favorite casino. Many event companies as well as land-based casinos started embracing digital transformation.

The 50 states in the US, and the 27 EU nations have had difficulty coordinating their pandemic responses. This, along with other factors, has lead to the recent peaks in confirmed COVID-19 cases. In this video, Alidad Tash examines these metrics for the US and the EU.

In the beginning of the video we can see that the US had at the start of the pandemic clearly underperformed the combined 27 EU nations. 

The first wave, only days apart was better handled by the EU as it reduced its daily new cases by 85%. Things took a turn for the worse for the US, with new cases climbing up to 66000.

In the second part of the video one could clearly see that the US managed to reduce its new cases, while the EU abandoned its successful tactics.

In mid-July, the EU experienced 15 times fewer daily cases than the US. 100 days since, it’s adding twice as many new cases.
