March in Bogotá against the continued closure of the casinos

Bogota continues to experience the closure of a multitude of businesses, including gyms, billiards and casinos, falling outside Claudia Lopez's economic recovery plan

Given Lopez's explanations of why the closure continues, among which she mentions "the gyms are not enabled for now in a closed space, we are giving the alternative to those who want to register and present a pilot to operate in the open air and we could consider it".

In the guilds of the casinos there are more than 550 premises that remain closed, without operating and as such, without obtaining income. In view of López's measures, last August 26, a multitude of workers from the sector held a march in the center of the city to show their disagreement with the established measures. The workers expressed in the same march that "More than 20 million pesos have been invested in biosecurity protocols (...) We have been contributing to health in Colombia for 30 years. Madam Mayor, you say that the problem is one of health, doctors and equipment; give us the opportunity to work, that we contribute to health".

The workers assure that they are running out of funds to pay the rent of the premises and the workers. They mentioned to the local press "As a company we have had losses of more than a billion pesos in these four months of quarantine. We ask the mayor to consider us for a safe reopening"

Lopez, who said at a press conference that several facilities, including casinos, cinemas, theaters and bars would be closed until further notice, expressed they would be "shut down until there is an epidemiological quota for their reopening”. As previously mentioned, the mayor also emphasized last Tuesday that for now, these establishments will only be able to resume their activities if they find ways to do so outdoors with the necessary security measures.
